Fredrik Charpentier Ljungqvist Appointed Docent a Second Time

SCAS Pro Futura Scientia Fellow Fredrik Charpentier Ljungqvist has been appointed Docent in Physical
Geography by the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University.

Charpentier Ljungqvist is already Docent/Associate Professor of History at Stockholm University, as well
as Researcher at the Bolin Centre for Climate Research, also at Stockholm. He started his academic career
as a medieval historian, but has increasingly conducted research within palaeoclimatology (climate history)
and his double docentships thus reflect his research profile in a very appropriate way.

He was admitted to the Pro Futura programme at SCAS in 2018 and was in residence at the Collegium in the
academic year 2019-20. As a Pro Futura Scientia Fellow, he leads the interdisciplinary project “Disentangling
socio-political and climatic factors for food insecurity in early modern Europe (c. 1500–1800)”.
